Children's Advocacy Centers of Kentucky Medical Provider Conference

This in-person training is designed to improve CAC medical providers' clinical assessment skills and provide updates on the evaluation and management of children who report experiencing sexual abuse as well as new legislation in Kentucky regarding perpetrators of child sexual abuse. The training will help providers identify and address patient vulnerablities that could lead to child maltreatment . Topics for this year's program include recognition of patients who could be victims of child sex trafficking, recognition of behaviors associated with neurodivergent disorders that could overlap with behaviors associated with abuse, and development of strategies for counseling families on internet safety.
Target Audience
CAC Medical Providers: Nurses, APRNs, Physicians
Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this activity, participants will be able to:
1. Articulate new laws related to child sexual abuse.
2. Identify signs of child sex trafficking.
3. Develop strategies for counseling families on internet safety.
4. Differentiate sexual behaviors that might be associated with disabilities from those that raise concern for sexual abuse.
5. Practice how to obtain good clinical photographs.
6. Discuss cases and strategies for documentation of case findings.
