The First 1,000 Days Start with Mom: Nutrition for Pregnancy and Postpartum
This educational activity is designed to address the growing need for practical, evidence-based guidance on nutrition care for pregnant and postpartum women during the first 1,000 days. Healthcare professionals often seek greater confidence in counseling and supporting patients through common nutrition-related concerns across pregnancy and the postpartum period. While evidence and guidelines are available, challenges remain in translating this information into individualized, real-world care and consistently integrating nutrition support throughout the maternal care continuum. This program aims to help bridge those gaps by providing up-to-date, clinically relevant strategies and resources applicable to everyday practice.
Target Audience
The target audience for this course includes physicians, pharmacists, nurses, social workers, and dietitians.
Learning Objectives

- Describe the role of maternal nutrition during pregnancy and postpartum in shaping short- and long-term health outcomes for mother and child.
- Identify evidence-based nutritional recommendations and interventions that support maternal health, lactation, and recovery during the first 1,000 days.
- Apply patient-centered strategies to assess and address nutritional needs in diverse maternal populations.
