Overview
Antimicrobial Stewardship Lecture Series sessions are designed to expose providers, nurses, and pharmacists to the most up to date literature surrounding infectious diseases. The aim is to improve UofL Health prescribing practices to better suit patient outcomes and hospital metrics pertaining to antimicrobial stewardship, including rates of hospital-acquired Clostridioides difficile infections and 2023 Joint Commission standards. This lecture will focus in better detail on C. difficile infection metric and outcome evaluation, as well as preventative efforts by infection prevention and antimicrobial stewardship teams.
Objectives
Upon completion of this activity, the participant will be able to:
1. Describe the healthcare impact of Clostridioides difficile infection (CDI) risk stratification and reporting, with emphasis on UofL Health strategies
2. Recall the fundamentals of infection prevention, particularly regarding C. difficile
3. Discuss the procedure for CDI testing and available interpretive comments at UofL Health
