Overview
Antimicrobial Stewardship Lecture Series sessions are designed to expose providers, nurses, and pharmacists to the most up to date literature surrounding infectious diseases. The aim is to improve UofL Health prescribing practices to better suit patient outcomes and hospital metrics pertaining to antimicrobial stewardship, including rates of hospital-acquired Clostridioides difficile infections and 2023 Joint Commission standards. Educational updates providing literature and guideline recommendations for the patients with HIV being seen throughout our System.
Objectives
Upon completion of this activity, participants will be able to:
1. List first-line antiretroviral therapy (ART) regimens for treatment-naïve patients
2. Recognize an incomplete HIV treatment regimen
3. Identify which medications in an HIV treatment regimen need to be renally dose adjusted
4. Utilize tools for identifying and responding to drug-drug interactions and swallowing difficulties
5. Describe when it is appropriate to hold ART and to restart ART in a hospitalized patient
