Series date:
07/01/2026 - 12:00pm EDT to 06/30/2027 - 1:00pm EDT

Series Overview
Annually the pharmacists at UofL Health complete a knowledge gap survey to identify areas where they would like to receive further education. Pharmacists are also asked to submit continuing education topics they feel would benefit the pharmacy department. The goal is to make pharmacists across the health system more comfortable managing disease state specific medication issues. Example: the oncology pharmacists are comfortable managing patients with hypercalcemia, but ER, internal medicine and ICU pharmacists might initially encounter these patients and not be as familiar of what medical treatment the patient should receive. Similarly, the Antimicrobial Stewardship Series meets the above description but focused on infectious diseases. It also facilitates meeting expected practices in the 2023 Joint Commission standards.

Series Objectives
Upon completion of this activity, participants will be able to:
1. Acquire a deeper understanding of medical management of various disease state/patient populations
2. Apply UofL Health policies/formulary to patient specific scenarios
