Date & Time of Session - 4/24/26 - from 12:00 - 1:00PM
Overview
In 2025, the American Thoracic Society (ATS) published new guidelines for diagnosis and management of community-acquired pneumonia (CAP). These guidelines provide updates on important recommendations including duration of therapy and use of corticosteroids in patients with severe CAP. They also provide recommendations for two new questions not previously discussed in the 2019 guidelines. These recommendations are in regard to prescribing empiric antibiotics in patients with suspected CAP and a positive viral test and utilization of lung ultrasound for diagnosis of CAP. This presentation will review these updated recommendations and the data the ATS used to formulate them.
