Module 3 - Screening for The Big 3
Violence, substance use, and anxiety or depression explain 80% of maternal deaths. The impact of these 3 factors on maternal deaths and injuries is preventable. Early identification will reduce this impact. Knowledge, screening tools, strategies and resources for healthcare providers and helping professionals to use with patients is provide in the learning management training developed for providers.
The Big 3 Screener is a 7-item tool that can be used to screen and identify whether a pregnant patient in any trimester or postpartum is experiencing mental health concerns or IPV. Additionaly it provides referrals for substnace use.
Target Audience
Healthcare providers who treat pregnant or postpartum women.

2. Describe the process for receiving informed consent from patients
3. Practiceasking The Big 3 Screener questions
4. Name potential barriers to using The Big 3 Screener and identigy helpful soluntions
