Module 2 - Consequences of the Big 3
Violence, substance use, and anxiety or depression explain 80% of maternal deaths. The impact of these 3 factors on maternal deaths and injuries is preventable. Early identification will reduce this impact. Knowledge, screening tools, strategies and resources for healthcare providers and helping professionals to use with patients is provide in the learning management training developed for providers.
Target Audience
Healthcare providers who treat pregnant or postpartum women.
Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this activity, participants will be able to:
1. Describe The Big 3 factors that contribute to injuries and deaths among pregnant and postpartum patients: anxiety and depression, IPV, and substance abuse
2. Discuss major conseqences of The Big 3
3. Give examples of the interconnected nature of The Big 3
