There are practice and process issues with respect to disclosure of poor prognoses and informed consent in the patient care setting that raise clinical ethics concerns.

Olivia Schuman, Ph.D, serves both as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Philosophy at the University of Louisville where she teaches classes in the Health Care Ethics MA program, and as the Clinical Ethics Program Specialist at Norton Healthcare. She received her Ph.D. in philosophy from York University in Toronto and completed a clinical ethics fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston. Her research interests include clinical ethics, resource allocation and reproductive ethics.
