Overview
Antimicrobial Stewardship Lecture Series sessions are designed to expose providers, nurses, and pharmacists to the most up to date literature surrounding infectious diseases. The aim is to improve UofL Health prescribing practices to better suit patient outcomes and hospital metrics pertaining to antimicrobial stewardship, including rates of hospital-acquired Clostridioides difficile infections and 2023 Joint Commission standards. This lecture will explore best practices surrounding multidrug resistant organisms, which have been identified by multiple organizations internationally as a growing threat to patient safety. By understanding how to prevent, identify, and manage these organisms, clinicians can improve antimicrobial utilization.

Objectives
Upon completion of this activity, the participant will be able to:
1. Identify multidrug resistant organism (MDRO) published guidelines and state reporting requirements 
2. Describe antibiotic classes and interpret susceptibility to identify MDROs 
3. Discuss optimize collaborative MDRO reduction strategies
