Overview
UofL Health is uniquely positioned to treat patients with type 2 diabetes both in the inpatient and outpatient setting. Pharmacists who treat this patient population should be continually up to date on recent literature and guideline changes. It is also important that pharmacists are up to date on how CGM devices work and what patients might be good candidates for these to improve overall outcomes.

This lecture will provide an overview of the management of diabetes in both the inpatient and outpatient settings. The audience will also be introduced to CGM devices including what devices exist and how they are utilized in both the inpatient and outpatient settings.

Objectives
Upon completion of this activity, the participant will be able to:
1. Describe the pathophysiology and complications associated with type 2 diabetes
2. Assess the current guidelines and literature regarding inpatient and outpatient management of diabetes
