Date & Time of Session - 10/12/26 - from 12:00 - 1:00 PM
Overview
T-cell–engaging bispecific antibodies represent a newer and rapidly expanding area of cancer therapy, with several agents currently on formulary at St. Elizabeth Healthcare. While step-up dosing and the associated monitoring are primarily conducted at the Edgewood campus, patients receiving ongoing therapy may receive care or present for evaluation at other locations throughout the health system. These therapies are associated with unique and potentially serious toxicities, particularly cytokine release syndrome (CRS) and immune effector cell-associated neurotoxicity syndrome (ICANS). Because pharmacists outside of oncology may not routinely encounter these agents, familiarity with their adverse effects and management may be limited. This topic was therefore selected to increase pharmacist awareness of T-cell–engaging bispecific antibodies, improve recognition of CRS and ICANS, and familiarize pharmacists with institutional protocols and resources available for the timely management of these toxicities..
Objectives
Upon completion of this activity, participants will be able to:
1. Explain T-cell–engaging bispecific antibodies, their mechanism of action, and their evolving role in cancer treatment.
2. Identify signs and symptoms of cytokine release syndrome (CRS) and immune effector cell-associated neurotoxicity syndrome (ICANS)
3. Distinguish their severity based on established grading criteria.
4. Discuss the pharmacologic management of CRS and ICANS associated with T-cell–engaging bispecific antibodies.
5. Locate relevant St. Elizabeth Healthcare protocols and resources for the management of patients receiving T-cell–engaging bispecific antibodies.
