Date & Time of Session - 1/19/26 - from 12:00 - 1:00 PM

Overview
Cannabinoid Hyperemesis Syndrome (CHS) is an increasingly recognized condition in clinical practice, particularly with the rising prevalence of cannabis use following legalization and changing societal attitudes. Despite its growing incidence, CHS remains underdiagnosed and often mismanaged due to its paradoxical nature. Cannabis, commonly used for nausea relief, can, in chronic use, lead to severe cyclic vomiting. Understanding CHS is critical for clinicians across specialties to ensure timely diagnosis, avoid unnecessary investigations, and implement effective management strategies. This topic is especially relevant for primary care, emergency medicine, and pharmacy professionals who frequently encounter patients with unexplained nausea and vomiting.

Objectives
Upon completion of this activity, participants will be able to:
1. Explain the pharmacology of cannabis and its effects on the gastrointestinal system relevant to CHS.
2. Describe the pathophysiology and proposed mechanisms of Cannabinoid Hyperemesis Syndrome (CHS).
3. Differentiate CHS from other causes of cyclic vomiting using key clinical features and diagnostic criteria.
4. Apply evidence-based management strategies for CHS, including acute treatment and long-term prevention.
