Learning Objectives:

  1. To identify the components and ordering of the ocular surface reconstruction process and its respective surgical procedures.
  2. To clarify the indications and technique for minor salivary gland transplantation in patients with severe dry eye refractive to medical interventions
  3. To identify approaches to ocular surface stem cell transplantation as well as the types of surgeries and postoperative care involved. 

Pre-Presentation Questions: 

  1. What kind of surgical intervention(s) exist for severe dry eye that is refractory to medical therapy?

  2. What types of surgical procedures exist for limbal stem cell deficiency?

  3. What is the Cincinnati protocol?
