Naoki Misumida, MD, FACC, FSCAI, is an interventional cardiologist with a focus on structural heart disease and treatment.
Dr. Misumida received his medical degree from Mie University in Tsu, Japan, and then completed his residency and subsequent cardiology training at Toyota Memorial Hospital in Japan. Dr. Misumida’s aspiration to be a leading interventional cardiologist led him to pursue a second residency and cardiology training in the U.S., where he completed a residency in internal medicine at Mount Sinai Beth Israel, New York, followed by general cardiology and interventional cardiology fellowship training at the University of Kentucky.
He completed an advanced interventional cardiology fellowship in structural heart disease at Mayo Clinic, Rochester, MN, where he learned from world-renowned interventional cardiologists. Upon completion of his more than a decade-long training, Dr. Misumida returned to UK HealthCare and plays an integral role in the structural heart team.
His particular interest lies in structural heart disease such as aortic and mitral valve disease as well as stroke prevention for atrial fibrillation. Academically, Dr. Misumida collaborates with local and national experts to publish multiple journal articles each year on topics that include coronary artery disease, valvular heart disease, and structural heart disease interventions.
