Identify markers of compassion fatigue and how we might protect ourselves from the “absorption vulnerability” that infiltrates our day-to-day work.
Describe the importance of boundaries - physical, cognitive, and emotional - and where these could feasibly be implemented in our workday.

Laura Forster, MD, FAAP, LPCC in Training
Dr. Forster received her medical degree from the University of Louisville, where she also completed her pediatric residency training. After completion of a chief residency year, she practiced general pediatrics for 11 years. In 2023, she made the difficult but rewarding decision to step away from medicine in pursuit of a master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling through Asbury Theological Seminary. Dr. Forster graduates in May of 2026 with plans to continue serving children, parents, and families, albeit in a different healing role.
