Mahan Ghiassi, M.D., FAANS, is a board-certified cerebrovascular and endovascular neurosurgeon and a Diplomate of the American Board of Neurological Surgery. He earned his B.S. in neuroscience from Vanderbilt University. He completed his surgical internship, neurosurgery residency, and fellowship in endovascular neurosurgery at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. His research focuses on the development of novel endovascular therapies for intracranial aneurysms, strategies to reduce procedural complications in carotid revascularization, and emerging treatments for acute ischemic stroke. 

Following training, Dr. Ghiassi served as Co-Director of Cerebrovascular and Endovascular Neurosurgery at Washington Regional Medical Center in Fayetteville, Arkansas, where he helped establish the region's first endovascular stroke program, and subsequently as Director of Endovascular Neurosurgery at Norton Brownsboro Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky. Practicing at a high-volume Comprehensive Stroke Center, he has performed more than 5,000 surgical and endovascular interventions for aneurysms, arteriovenous malformations, carotid disease, acute ischemic stroke, brain tumors and complex spinal pathology. Alongside his clinical work, he is an inventor and innovator in neurovascular device design and the founder and CEO of multiple medical device companies, including Crossroads Neurovascular, Inc., developer of the FDA-cleared PATH hybrid neurovascular guide catheter. His companies focus on creating new treatment devices for patients with cerebrovascular disease. He is a Fellow of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons and a member of the Congress of Neurological Surgeons, the Society of NeuroInterventional Surgery, the American Stroke Association, and the American Medical Association.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Ghiassi enjoys working on and racing cars and traveling with his wife and three children.
