Biography
Claranne Mathiesen MSN, RN, CNRN, SCRN, FAHA has been a member of the Lehigh Valley Hospital stroke team since 1999. Claranne is recognized for over 40 years of nursing expertise in neuroscience nursing. Her experience includes emergency care, interventional care, neurocritical care and medical surgical nursing. She provides consultative services in stroke center development and ongoing maintenance of acute care services to support delivery of stroke care.
Claranne works within a large tertiary hospital enterprise that supports 33 acute care campuses. In her current role she supports the Lehigh Valley region and has responsibilities for multiple certified stroke centers (CSC & 6 PSC) and 5 other hospitals with emergency capabilities to treat strokes. Her experience includes overseeing clinical operations, development of ongoing performance improvement/quality efforts, ongoing staff development and compliance with certification standards.
Claranne is actively involved in stroke care delivery both locally and nationally volunteering on several American Stroke Association and American Association of Neuroscience Nursing committees and task forces.
Claranne has held an academic appointment as Assistant Professor of Nursing at East Stroudsburg University since 1992. In this role, Claranne directly supervises and instructs junior and senior nursing students in a variety of clinical settings. Claranne arranges classroom and clinical assignments.
