Ruth Willard, DNP, MBA, RN, BC
Ruth received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing and her Master of Science in Nursing from McKendree University, Lebanon, IL; her Master of Business Administration from Webster University, St. Louis, IL; and her Doctor of Nursing Practice from American Sentinel University, Aurora, CO. In addition, she is board certified in nursing from the American Nurses Credentialing Center and a certified forensic nurse from the American College of Forensic Examiners Institute.
She is the Director of Nursing for the Kentucky Department for Public Health located in Frankfort, KY since 2020 and began her nursing careen in 1987 with over 30 years of experience in the nursing field. Ruth served multiple years in nursing executive roles where she was responsible for clinical, operational, and financial leadership for nursing in both clinical inpatient and outpatient services. Additionally, she has worked in academia where her areas of expertise include medical/surgical, critical care and nursing leadership.
Ruth believes public health offers a wide range of programs and services to prevent illness and injury; promote positive health behaviors; protect people and the environment; and prepare for public health emergencies. Her nursing career has been dedicated to creating high quality, reliable systems of care and developing the next generation of nurses and health care professionals to lead in these ever-changing times.
