Shreeta Waldon, LCADC, MA Professional Counseling

Shreeta Waldon is a bold, systems-disrupting public health leader working at the intersection of harm reduction, substance use policy, and community-centered care.
As Executive Director of the Kentucky Harm Reduction Coalition, she leads statewide efforts to reduce overdose deaths, expand access to life-saving resources, and challenge systems that continue to produce harm while calling it care. With nearly two decades of experience in social services and more than 16 years on the frontlines of substance use prevention, treatment, and harm reduction, Shreeta brings a rare combination of clinical expertise, executive leadership, and unapologetic advocacy.
As a Licensed Clinical Alcohol and Drug Counselor and PhD Candidate in Forensic Psychology, her work bridges practice, policy, and systems change…centering dignity, equity, and the fundamental belief that people deserve to stay alive, even before they are ready, willing, or able to pursue treatment.
Shreeta currently serves on the Kentucky Board of Alcohol and Drug Counselors, contributing to the oversight and advancement of professional standards within the field. Her leadership extends through national partnerships, speaking engagements, and collaborative work that continues to shape how harm reduction is understood and implemented across diverse settings. She is recognized as a trusted voice in spaces where clinical practice, community need, and policy intersect.
She is known for challenging antiquated systems that prioritize punishment over care, and for advancing evidence-based, community-driven approaches that meet people where they are.
Her work is grounded in a simple but urgent truth:
You cannot recover if you are dead.
And in a belief that guides everything she does:
When we release our assumptions about what people need and instead create space for them to lead their own journey, we don’t just support change…we make it possible.
