Justin Apperson is an attorney and Equal Justice Works Fellow, Opioid Crisis Response Program working with AppalReD Legal Aid in Prestonsburg, Kentucky. His fellowship project focuses on building partnerships with Opioid Use Disorder (OUD) treatment providers in Eastern Kentucky to help clients overcome significant legal barriers to recovery. Before attending law school, he engaged with access to justice issues as a Senior Administrative Specialist with the Language Access Services Section at the National Center for State Courts. He gained internship experience during law school providing legal services to migrant farm workers, as a judicial extern, and researching comparative constitutional law internationally before returning to his home state of Kentucky to start his legal career.
