Casey Michalovic is the Project Renew Project Director for AppalReD Legal Aid.  She joined AppalReD Legal Aid in 2022.  Her work is focused on addressing the civil legal needs of individuals in reentry and recovery in addition to expungements.  Prior to working at AppalReD, Casey worked as a public defender for many years and also spent time in private practice.  She graduated with honors from the Salmon P. Chase College of Law in 2013.  She received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Pikeville College and earned her Master of Science in Criminal Justice Policy and Leadership from Eastern Kentucky University.  She is admitted to practice law in the Commonwealth of Kentucky and the State of West Virginia.  She serves on the Board of Directors for Foundation for Appalachian Kentucky and is a member of the Big Sandy Regional Interagency Council.
