Dr. Conteh is a transplant hepatologist and the John S. Thompson Endowed Chair of Internal Medicine at the University of Kentucky, where she currently serves as Professor and Division Chief of Gastroenterology and Hepatology. She is a fellow of the distinguished Executive Leadership in Academic Medicine (ELAMâ). She was previously a Professor and the Health System Medical Director of Endoscopy at The Ohio State University, where she also served as the Section Chief of Hepatology in the Division of Gastroenterology, and as the Director of Quality, Patient Safety and Experience. She attended Emory University before moving to Cleveland to attend medical school at Case Western Reserve University. She completed a residency in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics, after which she served as a chief resident at University Hospitals of Cleveland. After residency, she completed a fellowship in Gastroenterology and Hepatology, followed by a fellowship in Transplant Hepatology, both at Vanderbilt University. She obtained a Master of Public Health degree at Vanderbilt. Her research interests are in hepatocellular carcinoma and chronic liver diseases. Dr. Conteh also carries a Master in Business Administration from the Fisher College of Business at Ohio State University. She has multiple peer-reviewed publications, has delivered multiple presentations, and collaborates regionally and nationally highlighting liver disease. In addition to her clinical, research, and administrative enterprise, Dr. Conteh has been recognized as an excellent educator and has received multiple teaching awards. Her most important role, however, is being a mother to three amazing children.
