Overview
New Stroke Guidelines have been published in 2026. Understanding new and clarified patient care standards set forth in this guideline is of high importance for our providers and patients.  

Objectives
Upon completion of this activity, the participant will be able to:
1. Recognize updates to emergency management of Acute Ischemic Stroke based on the 2026 Guideline for the early management of patients with acute ischemic stroke including evaluation for thrombolytic, thrombolytic timing goals, thrombolytic treatment and management post-thrombolytic.
2. Identify appropriate patients eligible for DAPT therapy post mild stroke or high-risk TIA.
3. Interpret recommendations regarding anticoagulation initiation timing post-cardioembolic stroke.
4. Use current evidence to evaluate and treat “break-through” stroke
5. Recall evidence for SAPT or DAPT therapy post thrombolytic for acute ischemic stroke
6. Implement stroke performance measures for stroke patients at EMRMC
