Overview
Health misinformation has become increasingly prevalent and can negatively influence medication use, vaccination decisions, treatment adherence, and patients’ trust in healthcare professionals. The rapid spread of misleading health information through social media and other digital platforms makes it difficult for patients to distinguish credible evidence from inaccurate or intentionally deceptive claims. As highly accessible and trusted healthcare professionals, pharmacists are well positioned to identify misinformation, communicate evidence in a clear and respectful manner, and help patients make informed healthcare decisions. This session is needed to provide pharmacists with practical strategies for evaluating questionable health claims, addressing misinformation without alienating patients, and promoting reliable, evidence-based information within their practice settings and communities.

Objectives
Upon completion of this activity, participants will be able to:
1. Differentiate between misinformation, disinformation, and malinformation in healthcare
2. Identify factors that make medication and health misinformation persuasive
3. Evaluate questionable health claims using a structured verification process
4. Apply patient-centered communication strategies when addressing misinformation
5. Describe interventions pharmacists can implement at the patient, organizational, and community levels
