UK BRIC Academy
UKHC BRIC Academy: Relationship-Centered Communication - Online learning program to enhance connections with patient, families, and colleagues. This is a 6.0 hour interactive workshop that is delivered in-person and is facilitated by UK HealthCare trainers certified by the Academy of Communication in Healthcare.
Target Audience
Workshop is for faculty, APP's, and executive leadership at UKHC as well as nurses and physician assistants.
Learning Objectives
After attending this program, you should be able to:
1) describe the evidence base that supports relationship centered communication
2) describe and demonstrate how to build rapport
3) demonstrate how to elicit a patient’s agenda
4) demonstrate how to negotiate what can be managed safely in the allocated time
5) demonstrate how to elicit the patient’s perspective
6) demonstrate how to respond with empathy
7) demonstrate communication skills to maximize the patient’s understanding of a collaborative plan
8) identify 1-2 new communication skills to implement into practice
