Music and the Brain

Music is an integral and universal part of the human experience. Rarely do we practice metacognition regarding the interpretation of music. This module will describe the localization and processing of music in the brain and discuss the clinical relevance of music in medicine.

Learning Objectives

After the completion of this activity, participants will be able to:

  • Identify the localization of music interpretation in the brain
  • Discuss music involvement in epilepsy and neurodevelopment
  • Review several cases of music involvement in clinical neuropathology
