ForwardKyPQC: Mamatoto Village - The Movement of Collective Care
The Mamatoto Village describes a community-based integrated care program focused on improving the health status and outcomes for black families in Washington, DC. The program has several important key components: case management, care coordination, patient empowerment, and culturally representative care. Additionally, the Mamatoto Village supports workforce development, education, and training for care providers, counselors, coordinators, and leaders from the community served. This reinforces the program sustainability and promotes community resiliency.
Target Audience
The Annual Kentucky Perinatal Quality Collaborative Meeting targets perinatal medical care providers, social service providers, administrators, payers, quality managers, researchers, policymakers, and patients with lived experience.
Learning Objectives
Upon competition of this activity, participants will be able to:
1. Understand the history and mission of Mamatoto Village.
2. Describe the programs that Mamatoto offers.
3. Identify strong examples of Mamatoto Village's impact on the perinatal workforce development and maternal health outcomes.
