Empathy: Seeing the Patient and the Person
Empathy: Seeing the Patient and the Person Enduring Module is a recording of the live Regularly Scheduled Series held on September 9, 2026. If you received credit for attending this session during the live meeting, please refrain from claiming credit for this module.
Healthcare professionals need to strengthen their ability to consistently demonstrate empathy, recognize patients and families as individuals beyond their diagnoses or room numbers, and incorporate the patient and family perspective into everyday care. There is a need for practical strategies that help clinicians build meaningful connections, understand individual needs and experiences, and identify healthcare system practices that promote patient-centered care. Addressing these needs can support more compassionate, respectful, and person-centered experiences for patients, families, and healthcare teams.
Target Audience
UK HealthCare Registered Nurses and Licensed Practical Nurses

After this session, participants will be able to:
- Discuss ways empathy is shown to you and others
- Apply methods of seeing our patients and families as people and not a room number or diagnosis
