Back to Series Home

Blood Administration Safety: Nursing Best Practices for Safe Transfusion Care Enduring Module is a recording of the live Regularly Scheduled Series held on July 8, 2026. If you received credit for attending this session during the live meeting, please refrain from claiming credit for this module.

Safe blood product administration is a high-risk clinical process requiring strict adherence to institutional policy, timely recognition of transfusion reactions, and effective implementation of emergency procedures. Staff must maintain competency in routine blood administration as well as rare but critical events such as electronic health record downtime and activation of the Mass Transfusion Protocol (MTP). Ongoing education is necessary to reinforce evidence-based practice, improve patient safety, ensure regulatory compliance, and reduce preventable transfusion-related adverse events.
