Dr. Melissa Newcomb is a current Associate Professor of Surgery at the University of Kentucky and practicing General Surgeon at the VA Medical Center in Lexington, KY.  She is a graduate of the University of Kentucky College of Medicine and completed her General Surgery Residency in 2013 at the University of Kentucky.  Her career interests outside of surgery include education and process improvement.  She serves as an Assistant Dean of Assessment and Evaluation in the UK GME office as well as Vice Chair of Education for the UK Department of Surgery.  At the VA, she serves as the Section Chief of General Surgery and is the co-director of the Chief Residency in Quality and Safety Fellowship.
