Dr. Matuszewski, an ABOS Board Certified Orthopaedic Traumatologist July 2018, joined UK Department of Orthopaedic Surgery as a fellowship trained orthopaedic trauma surgeon in September 2016 bringing over eight years of experience to the program. He sub-specializes in deformity correction, non-unions, mal-unions, post-traumatic reconstruction, and osteomyelitis with a strong interest in research. He serves as Director, Orthopaedic Trauma Research with several ongoing studies supported my multiple competitive grants.
Serving as Director of Orthopaedic Trauma Research, he developed the fellowship to train students in orthopaedic clinical research. It is designed to attract students who are qualified for orthopaedics but may have not matched. It has been a very successful fellowship with every candidate matching and producing multiple scientific works.
Dr. Matuszewski serves as program faculty for the Orthopaedic Trauma Association, AO Trauma North American, American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, and Limb Lengthening Reconstruction Society.
He completed his Orthopaedic Trauma Fellowship training at Carolinas Medical Center August 2015 – July 2016, Orthopaedic Surgery Residency at University of Maryland, Department of Orthopaedic Surgery July 2010 – June 2015 and Combined Clinical Orthopaedic Trauma and McKay Orthopaedic Laboratory Basic Science Post-Doctoral Fellowship May 2009 – June 2010.
Dr. Matuszewski received his Doctor of Medicine|Honors in Research|Commendation in Investigative Scholarship from SUNY Downstate College of Medicine August 2005 – May 2009 and Bachelor of Science, Biochemistry, with minors in Physics, Psychology, Biology, Chemistry from University of Miami |Phi Beta Kappa|Cum Laude|agna Cum Laude August 2010 – May 2014. He was awarded a Limb Lengthening and Reconstruction Traveling Fellowship August 2019 – September 2019.
