Stephen Batt, PharmD

Stephen Batt is the pharmacist manager of the Markey Access and Innovation Center (MAIC) at University of Kentucky Healthcare (UKHC). He plays a critical role in patient access to high-cost chemotherapy, immunotherapy, targeted therapy, and gene therapy agents through payer driven prior authorization, manufacturer and foundation assistance, and patient assistance programs. He manages a team consisting of a pharmacist, nurse, pharmacy technicians, and financial navigators to ensure patients obtain the most clinically appropriate treatment at the lowest cost. He started his journey at UKHC in 2015 within the Specialty Pharmacy department dedicated to educating patients in the Rheumatology Clinic on self-administered biologic products as well as clinically managing them throughout treatment. This specialty position later led him to managing a team following non-oncology infusions services and learning complex details about medical billing that he applies to his current position in the Markey Cancer Center. His current role helps him blend his PharmD and MBA degrees in a manner that utilizes both knowledge bases.
