Dr. Elgendy is an Associate Professor of Medicine and Associate Program Director of Interventional Cardiology at the University of Kentucky and serve as the Medical Director of the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory at the Lexington Veterans Affair Healthcare System. His clinical interests are in complex coronary interventions, cardiogenic shock, and acute pulmonary embolism interventions. He is an author of over 460 peer reviewed manuscripts. He serves on numerous national committees at the ACC, AHA, and SCAI. He is a writing committee member of the 2025 AHA/ACC guideline for Acute Coronary Syndromes and  the 2022 AHA/ACC Chest Pain-AMI Data Standards.
