Dr. Worhunsky grew up in New England, where he completed his undergraduate studies at Bates College and medical studies at Harvard Medical School. He then completed his general surgery residency at Stanford University School of Medicine, where he served as Administrative Chief Resident during his final year. During his professional development years, he served as the Clinical Research Fellow in the Division of Surgical Oncology. Following his seven years in California, he moved back east to complete a two-year fellowship in Pediatric Surgery at Yale University before joining the faculty at the University of Kentucky.

Dr. Worhunsky is a member of the American Pediatric Surgical Association, American Academy of Pediatrics, and American College of Surgeons.
