Renal Cysts: Understanding and Management, presented by Dr. Andrew Shabila
Upon completion of this activity, participants will be able to:
1. Classify a cystic renal mass using the Bosniak v2019 classification system, based on defined CT/MRI thresholds for enhancement, septation, wall thickness, and nodularity.
2. Select an appropriate management strategy — imaging surveillance, percutaneous aspiration/sclerotherapy, or percutaneous thermal ablation — for a cystic renal mass based on its Bosniak classification and the patient's renal function.
3. Distinguish rare and mimicking causes of a cystic renal lesion — including renal abscess, hemorrhagic cyst, renal lymphoma, Castleman disease, and urothelial carcinoma — from a malignant cystic renal mass.
