Erich Maul

Dr. Erich Maul is Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Kentucky College of Medicine, Chief of Hospital Pediatrics and Assistant Chief Medical Officer at Kentucky Children’s Hospital in Lexington, KY. He received his Bachelor of Science in Biology Magna Cum Laude from Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania in 1994, his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from the Ohio University College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1999 and Master of Public Health from the University of Kentucky College of Public Health in 2014. He completed residency training in Pediatrics at Keesler Air Force Medical Center in Biloxi, Mississippi from 1999-2002 and was selected as Chief of Residents from 2002-2003. In 2004, he received the US Air Force Clinical Excellence Award as the top physician in the US Air Force Medical Service. He completed his service time with the Air Force in 2006 and joined the faculty at UK in July of that same year. He was promoted to the Chief of the Division of Hospital Pediatrics in 2015 and has grown the program to 17 faculty and 2 community hospital sites. Since 2015, Dr Maul has been peer selected as one of the Best Doctors in America. Dr Maul is the Deputy Editor for the American Academy of Pediatrics PREP Hospital Medicine Editorial Board and collaborates with over a dozen authors to create continuing medical education for pediatric hospitalists. Dr Maul is board certified in both General Pediatrics and Pediatric Hospital Medicine through the American Board of Pediatrics. In his spare time, Dr Maul is the head coach of the Lafayette High School Varsity Archery Team and is an avid landscape and nature photographer.
