Colleen Overley, PharmD, MS, BCOP
Dr. Overley received a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Midwestern University Chicago College of Pharmacy. Subsequently, she completed a one year ASHP accredited Pharmacy Practice residency at Saint Joseph Hospital in Lexington, KY along with the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning Certificate program to increase her teaching skills. Dr. Overley then completed a two-year dual program where she earned a Master’s degree in Medial Sciences with an emphasize in Clinical and Translational Science and completed the PGY2 specialized Oncology residency program at the University of Kentucky in Lexington, KY. Her research interests include pediatric hematology oncology pharmacogenomics, pharmacokinetics, supportive care for oncology patients, and patient outcomes and quality improvement.
Dr. Overley is currently the Clinical Pharmacy Coordinator for Pediatric Hematology Oncology Pharmacy at the University of Kentucky Healthcare. Prior to returning to the University of Kentucky Healthcare, Dr. Overley work as a Clinical Pharmacy Specialist at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. At that institution, she was able to expand her knowledge and skills within pharmacogenomics by evaluating and applying next generation sequencing and germline testing clinically, educating patients, families, and other providers on the results, and documenting the results and clinical plan in the patient’s electronic medical record. While at the University of Kentucky, she has experience in evaluating pharmacogenomic results and discussing with the attending provider the clinical plans along with aiding in obtaining the targeted therapy for the patients, in both adults and pediatrics.
