Alexa Scisney is a multifaceted maternal health professional, certified as a labor doula, postpartum doula, birth/ midwife assistant, newborn care specialist, and lactation educator. She is the founder of Alexa’s Birth Services, where she has supported over 80 births and accompanied more than 100 families through their maternal health journeys.

Alexa's professional career called her to create Granny's Birth Initiative, INC. Now Alexa serves as the Executive Director of Granny’s Birth Initiative (GBI), a Louisville-based nonprofit dedicated to improving birth equity and outcomes for Black birthing people and underserved communities. Drawing on her lived and professional experience, Alexa has built GBI into a healing-focused, advocacy-driven organization with a commitment to culturally relevant care. Her leadership bridges clinical knowledge, grassroots engagement, and unwavering dedication to reproductive justice.
