Reem Alkilany, MD, RhMSUS is an Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Department of Internal Medicine and Associate Director of the Rheumatology fellowship at the University of Kentucky College of Medicine and UK HealthCare. She is a board-certified rheumatologist with expertise in inflammatory rheumatic diseases, musculoskeletal ultrasound, and clinical research.

Dr. Alkilany completed her medical degree at the University of Jordan, followed by Internal Medicine residency training at the University of New Mexico and Rheumatology fellowship training at MetroHealth Medical Center/Case Western Reserve University. 

Her academic interests include autoimmune and auto inflammatory diseases, lupus, vasculitis, inflammatory arthritis, musculoskeletal ultrasound, and quality improvement. She serves as a sub-investigator on multiple rheumatology clinical trials, including studies evaluating therapies for ANCA-associated vasculitis and systemic lupus erythematosus. 

Dr. Alkilany has authored peer-reviewed publications, presented research regionally and nationally, and has contributed to educational initiatives through the American College of Rheumatology, USSONAR, and academic rheumatology programs. At the University of Kentucky, she serves as Associate Director of the Rheumatology Fellowship Program, Quality Improvement and Patient Safety Faculty Champion, volunteer at the GME wellness committee, and director of the rheumatology musculoskeletal ultrasound curriculum. She is also actively involved in medical education, mentoring, and advancing women in rheumatology.
