Wael Ibrahim, MD, PhD
I am an Assistant Professor in the Clinical Title Series at the University of Kentucky Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine. My role spans many sections including clinical chemistry, microbiology and transfusion medicine. I currently serve as the section director of infectious diseases, serology and microbiology send out tests where I oversee quality assurance, tests performance and validate new assays. Additionally, I am the medical director of apheresis services and an attending physician in the transfusion service at University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital. I also provide diagnostic interpretation of serum and urine protein electrophoresis and immunofixations.
I am actively involved in teaching residents and fellows core aspects of clinical pathology including diagnostic serological tests of infectious diseases, interpretation of serum and urine electrophoresis studies, basic concepts of transfusion medicine and principles of apheresis.
