Andrew Bernard is a native of Kentucky. He began his career as an EMT in a rural county and as an aeromedical dispatcher. He was educated entirely at the University of Kentucky. He has almost 40 years of experience in EMS, emergency surgery and trauma. Dr. Bernard is currently Professor of Surgery, the Paul A. Kearney MD Endowed Chair in Trauma Surgery at the UK College of Medicine. He is the Associate Medical Director for UK’s adult level I trauma center. Second only to caring for patients, Dr. Bernard’s greatest passion is teaching.
