Shari Meyerson, MD, MEd

Dr Meyerson is a Professor of Surgery and Chief of the Division of Thoracic Surgery at the University of Kentucky. She is the Program Director for both the Thoracic Surgery Fellowship and the Integrated Thoracic Surgery Residency Programs. Dr Meyerson has extensive experience performing minimally invasive approaches to lung and mediastinal surgery. From the early days of thoracoscopic surgery she has been actively involved in teaching surgeons at all levels and has now expanded into the forefront of single port robotic surgery. She has published multiple peer-reviewed papers ranging from techniques for thoracoscopic lobectomy to simulator development and assessment of operative skills in residents. She currently serves as the senior editor for the Society of Thoracic Surgeons/Pearson’s Ebook, the primary educational source for thoracic surgeons around the world. Her current research interests include defining the appropriate role for single port robotics in the thoracic surgery space, developing educational strategies for single port robotics, and preventing long-term musculoskeletal injuries among surgeons over the course of their career.
