Kamyar Asadipooya Bio:
I worked at Student Research Committee, Shiraz University of Medical Sciences, between 1993 and 1999. I had few publications and presentations and I received “Medical Student Excellence Award, 1999 recognition of research in Medicine”, awarded by Vice Chancellor of Research (Dr. Reza Panjeshahin) at Shiraz University of Medical Sciences. I had some research experiences at Fatemeh Zahra Heart Center between August 2001 and September 2003, and during my internal medicine residency between 2003 and 2007 at Namazi Hospital, which was mainly cardiovascular researches. During that period, I ended up leading a double-blind placebo-controlled trial investigating the effects of ACE inhibitor (captopril) on thrombolysis in the patients presented with acute ST elevation myocardial infarction. The result was presented in local meeting.
During the more than 4 years’ experience as an Assistant Professor of Medicine at Bushehr University of Medical Science (September 2007 to December 2011), I worked closely with Dr. Iraj Nabipour at the Persian Gulf Tropical Medicine Research. We have published 7 PubMed index manuscripts, including a clinical trial (https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/23582934/).
I moved to United States in October 2011. I worked as a Research Assistant at the Endocrinology Department at the University of Kansas Medical Center (KUMC, 2012 – 2015). I got 2 grants with Dr. Leland Graves at the KUMC Endocrinology Department. I had a couple of publications (https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/28314897/) and an oral presentation at ASBMR in September 2014.
In 2015, I started fellowship training in endocrinology at the Endocrinology Department, NYU School of Medicine (2015 – 2017), then worked as Research Scientist at the Endocrinology Department, NYU Langone Medical Center (2017 – 2018). I was awarded as “Researcher of the Month, January 2017, Diabetes Research Program, NYU Langone Medical Center” by Dr. Ann Marie Schmidt and “Excellence Award, 2017 recognition of Research in Endocrinology, Endocrinology Diabetes and Metabolism Department, NYU Langone Medical Center, NYU school of Medicine” by Dr. Ira J Goldberg. I also received “Endocrine Fellows Foundation (EFF) Travel Award, the American Society for Bone and Mineral Research (ASBMR), EFF/ASBMR Tenth Fellows Forum on Metabolic Bone Diseases, Atlanta, GA, September 14-15, 2016”.
In January 2018, I joined the Endocrinology Department, as an Assistant Professor of Medicine at the University of Kentucky. I worked with Drs. Philip A. Kern, Lisa Tannock and Simon J. Fisher. I have leaded few research projects, including two clinical trials (https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/37354247/ and https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/35261932/). I have published 30 articles, and 2 book chapters. I had 4 National/International oral presentations at the American Initiative in Mast Cell Diseases (AIM, May 22, 2022), NM Programs Team | Bone Health ECHO (August 16, 2022), Harbor-UCLA Medical Center (Jan 10, 2024) and for blueprint medicine a Sanofi company (November 21, 2025). I have also written 4 grants (non-sponsored research projects). Three grants were written since July 2024 and one of them is under review by NIH.
I am a US citizen and board certified ABIM.
Over the last, nearly ten years, I have been privileged to provide clinical care to patients, get research grant, publish several papers in international journals as well as oral presentations at international meetings (such as American Society of Bone and Mineral Research).
