Zachary Fulkerson, MD. PhD

Zachary B. Fulkerson, MD, PhD is an Assistant Professor of Clinical Medicine at the Indiana University School of Medicine and a board-certified pulmonologist and intensivist specializing in pulmonary vascular disease. He serves as Medical Director of the Pulmonary Hypertension Center of Excellence at IU Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Dr. Fulkerson earned his MD and PhD in Physiology from the University of Kentucky College of Medicine. He completed his residency in Internal Medicine and fellowship in Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine at Indiana University School of Medicine, where he subsequently joined the faculty in 2019. He is board certified in Internal Medicine, Pulmonary Disease, and Critical Care Medicine.
His clinical and academic work focuses on pulmonary arterial hypertension, exercise intolerance, and advanced cardiopulmonary exercise testing, with an emphasis on invasive hemodynamics and early disease detection. He has contributed to peer-reviewed literature in pulmonary vascular disease and cardiopulmonary physiology and has presented nationally at meetings including the American Thoracic Society and CHEST. In addition to his clinical and research efforts, he is actively involved in fellowship leadership and medical education within the Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine.
