Overview
Artificial intelligence is starting to become integrated within health care and pharmacy practices. Discussions regarding artificial intelligence have captured public interest given promises of improved quality of patient care and workplace efficiency. This presentation will provide pharmacists with a baseline knowledge of what artificial intelligence is and applications for its use. Though the exact timeline for applications are not yet known, this presentation aims to best prepare pharmacists to be equipped with the tools to critically analyze its outputs.
Objectives
Upon completion of this activity, participants will be able to:
1. Define the common terminology and principles of artificial intelligence
2. Identify available guidance and research on artificial intelligence in healthcare
3. Analyze artificial intelligence generated recommendations with clinical and professional judgement
4. Evaluate artificial intelligence clinical decision support systems to provide safe and effective patient care
