Organized faculty and resident peer-selected small groups to meet with site visitor. Met with site visitor from the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME). Answered questions and produced documentation for the site visitor. The Residency Review Committee (RRC) for OB/GYN in the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) reviewed the material and issued 14 citations. I answered the citations and submitted the program response. The program finally received Accreditation with Warning in February 2014.
2014-present Annual Accreditation Data System Update
Prepared annual program Accreditation Data System (ADS) update in the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) website. This comprehensive update includes faculty rosters, faculty scholarly activity, resident rosters, resident scholarly activity, Case Log reports, Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) anonymous surveys for both the residents and faculty members, citation responses and Major Changes sections. This is the document that determines accreditation on a rolling annual bases through the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) and the OB/GYN Residency Review Committee. I am responsible for this document. Since 2015 the program has maintained Continued Accreditation.
03/2014-present Resident Didactic Curriculum Development and Scheduling
I designed a new 2-year inclusive curriculum based on Council on Resident Education in Obstetrics and Gynecology (CREOG) objectives. I assigned lecturers concrete topics, goals and objectives to meet during lecture and kept the rolling schedule. I designed a summer lecture series to repeat high value lectures annually, as well as important emergency drills and simulations. I created several simulation workshops with other faculty members, like forceps delivery and perineal repair. I communicate with all the faculty, including assignments of their topics to be done over 2 years as well as their goals and objectives.
09/2013-present Update Goals and Objectives for Resident Rotations
Goals and Objectives were comprehensively updated in the fall of 2013. This involved rewriting all the goals and objectives for each resident rotation. New rotations or changes in any rotation require a continual update as well. These are published on the resident website in MedHub.
09/2013-6/2014 Designed Resident Evaluations linked to 28 Milestones for transition to Next Accreditation System for Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME)
The Milestone Project for Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) was an extensive overhaul of their previous accreditation system. The every 2-5 years in depth on site evaluations of the department were terminated in favor of on-going evaluation of the program annually through several metrics. One of the largest changes required the submission of Milestone evaluations of the residents. These developmentally based evaluations encompass 28 skills based on the 6 core competencies. Each resident must be assigned a level, between 0 and 5 on each of the 28 Milestones. New performance evaluations of the residents needed to reflect the new terminology and competencies present in the Milestones document. Through meetings with the Clinical Competency Committee (CCC) and Program Evaluation Committee (PEC), it became clear that the previous rotationally based evaluations were inadequate to this process. I completed a re-write of all evaluations and mapped each of the Milestones. My new evaluations were completed and vetted by the Clinical Competency Committee (CCC) at their second meeting.
10/2013-1/2014 Established the Clinical Competency Committee
This was a new entity to the OB/GYN department. The Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) outlined the creation of a Clinical Competency Committee (CCC) to meet the accreditation standards set forth in the Next Accreditation System. Each committee member was chosen by the Program Director to reflect the different divisions and to hopefully create a strong working group. I selected each committee member and designed the format of the meeting. I prepared the materials for the meeting and developed new tools to improve efficiency. I established the initial meeting 6 months prior to the implementation of the Next Accreditation System to plan.
03/2014-04/2014 Established the Program Evaluation Committee
Similar to the Clinical Competency Committee (CCC), the Program Evaluation Committee was a new entity to the OB/GYN department and mandated by the Next Accreditation System. There was a similar, but less formalized, Resident Education Committee, that was partially used a template for the establishment of the more robust Program Evaluation Committee (PEC). I selected the members and established the format of the meeting. This committee formalized resident rotation evaluations and an in depth look at all rotations annually. I lead the discussions and solicit faculty participation. I completed the Annual Program Evaluation, which is an in depth report on the state of the residency, inclusive of an action plan to improve the program and presented it to the faculty in a faculty meeting.
08/2022-11/2022 Revised the evaluations forms to reflect Milestones 2.0
Completely re-tooled the evaluations for all resident rotations. The Milestones went from 28 points to 32 in the new iteration. I rewrote the MedHub evaluations to reflect the new language and emphasis on the 6 core competencies. I worked with GME to ensure that the evaluations were mobile device compatible, as this is generally the preferred method for completion.
05/2021-06/2023 Participated in a Special Review chartered for the Ob/Gyn Residency by GME for concerns on annual ACGME Resident Survey. Coordinated interviews with residents and DIO. Worked with chair and other department leaders to improve environment for resident education. Corresponded extensively with GME Compliance Committee. Resolved after 2 years of improved survey results.
