Clay B. Marsh, M.D., serves as Chancellor and Executive Dean for Health Sciences at West Virginia University, where he oversees five health professions schools and helps lead WVU Medicine, one of the nation's fastest growing academic health systems. A nationally recognized leader in academic medicine, innovation, and personalized healthcare, Dr. Marsh has dedicated his career to advancing healthcare education, research, and clinical care while developing innovative approaches to improving population health.

A pulmonary and critical care physician, researcher, educator, and inventor, Dr. Marsh has authored more than 150 peer-reviewed publications, secured more than $20 million in research funding, and holds more than 20 patents and patent disclosures. During the COVID-19 pandemic, he served as West Virginia’s COVID-19 czar, helping coordinate the state's response and guiding public health initiatives. Before joining WVU in 2015, he spent more than two decades in leadership, clinical, research, and innovation roles at The Ohio State University.
