Hypertensive Urgency and Inpatient Hypertension Management

Back to Series Home

The Hypertensive Urgency and Inpatient Hypertension Management enduring module is a recording from the live Regularly Scheduled Series held on January 14, 2026. If you received credit for attending this session during the live meeting, please refrain from claiming credit for this module.

Hypertension is frequently encountered in the inpatient setting and is associated with increased morbidity, prolonged hospital stays, and adverse cardiovascular outcomes when not appropriately recognized and managed. Despite its prevalence, variability persists in the diagnosis, monitoring, and treatment of inpatient blood pressure, and management strategies are often extrapolated from outpatient guidelines that may not fully address the complexities of hospitalized patients. Clinicians require updated education on evidence-based approaches to inpatient hypertension, including appropriate thresholds for intervention, safe treatment strategies, and alignment with current American Heart Association recommendations, to optimize patient outcomes and reduce practice variation.
