Ima Ebong, MD, MS, FAAN
Dr. Ima Ebong is an Associate Professor of Neurology and the Vice Chair for Community Advancement for the Department of Neurology at the University of Kentucky College of Medicine.
Dr. Ebong received her Doctor of Medicine Degree from the University of Kentucky College of Medicine. She completed both her residency in Neurology and fellowship in Clinical Neurophysiology at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami, Florida.
Dr. Ebong is a Diplomate of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (DABPN) and is board-certified in both Neurology and Clinical Neurophysiology. Additionally, she is an elected Fellow of the American Academy of Neurology.
Dr. Ebong is an elected member of Alpha Omega Alpha (AΩA) Honor Medical Society, one of the highest honors in the field of medicine, signifying a lasting commitment to professionalism, leadership, scholarship, research, and community service.
In recognition of her work as a medical educator, Dr. Ebong has received several awards. In 2020, Dr. Ebong was named one of “1000 Inspiring Black Scientists in America” published by Cell Mentor and published by The Community of Scholars. She is the recipient of three Academy of Medical Education Excellence in Medical Education Awards (2020, 2021 and 2025) from the University of Kentucky College of Medicine. She was the recipient of a 2023 University of Kentucky Outstanding Teaching Award, as well as the recipient of the 2024 Working in Medicine and Science (WIMS) award for leadership.
